Valerian Root is a self-portrait born from the desire to reconnect with ancestral knowledge obscured by colonial histories. Drawing on Indigenous motifs and Tikuna ceremonial practices, the painting reflects the artist’s ongoing search for cultural recovery and understanding, approaching the self not as a finite discovery, but as a continuous act of becoming.
